Green loan

Loan at advantageous rate intended for financing energy-saving works.

Full definition

A green loan is a loan on favourable terms (low or zero interest, suitable term) to finance renovation work, mainly energy-saving work. Each region has its own scheme. In Flanders, Mijn VerbouwLening lets you borrow up to EUR 60,000 over at most 25 years, interest-free for some income groups. In Wallonia, the Société wallonne du crédit social and the Fonds du Logement wallon offer zero or low-rate loans (Rénopack, Rénoprêt) depending on income and works. In Brussels, the Brussels Green Loan finances insulation, heating and renewable energy, with help from Homegrade. Each region sets the eligible works and income conditions. A green loan can be combined with a standard mortgage and regional grants.
