Lease agreement governing the rental of a property serving as the tenant's primary residence.
Full definition
The residential lease is the most common contract in Belgium for housing rental. Since the 6th State Reform, jurisdiction is regional. The standard duration is 9 years, with the tenant able to terminate with 3 months' notice (and compensation in the first 3 years). The landlord can only terminate for specific reasons. Rent is registered free of charge and indexable annually.
