The police count the offences recorded on a municipality's territory, including those against commuters, shoppers and visitors. Divided by residents alone, towns that draw many people look more dangerous than they are for the people who live there. Each municipality page shows that figure per 1,000 residents next to the Belgian median, without turning it into a score out of 100.
