Heat recovery ventilation

Mechanical ventilation system recovering heat from extracted air to preheat incoming fresh air.

Full definition

Heat recovery ventilation (system D) is a mechanical system that simultaneously extracts stale air and supplies filtered fresh air. A heat exchanger recovers up to 90% of heat from extracted air to preheat incoming air. In Belgium, this system is virtually mandatory in new low-energy and passive buildings. Installation costs range from EUR 5,000 to EUR 12,000.
