Rent indexation
Annual adjustment of rent based on the consumer health price index.
Full definition
Rent indexation allows landlords to annually adjust rent based on the health index evolution. In Belgium, indexation is only possible if the written lease provides for it, effective at the earliest on the anniversary of the lease's entry into force. The formula is: base rent × new health index / health index of the month preceding signature. In Wallonia and Brussels, temporary measures have limited indexation for energy-inefficient housing (EPC E, F, G).
