Registration rights are a regional tax levied on the purchase of real estate. The rate varies by region: 12.5% in Wallonia and Brussels, 3% in Flanders (reduced rate for the sole own dwelling, formerly 6%). Abatements exist for first-time buyers: in Wallonia, abatement on the first bracket of €20,000; in Brussels, abatement of €200,000; in Flanders, abatement of €93,600 for the sole own dwelling.
