Right of superficies
Real right allowing one to build or own a building on another's land.
Full definition
The right of superficies allows its holder to own buildings or plantations on land belonging to another. In Belgium, since the 2021 property law reform, its maximum duration is 99 years. It is used by Community Land Trusts in Brussels to offer affordable housing.
