Energy
EPC certificate
Document certifying a building's energy performance, mandatory when selling or renting.
Full definition
The Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) evaluates a building's energy consumption and assigns a label from A++ (very efficient) to G (inefficient). It has been mandatory for every sale or rental since 2011. The certificate is established by an accredited certifier and is valid for 10 years. It mentions theoretical consumption in kWh/m²/year and provides improvement recommendations. The EPC label significantly influences the selling price: an A+ property can be worth 15 to 25% more than an equivalent property rated D.
