Taxation
Property tax
Annual regional tax calculated on the cadastral income of a property.
Full definition
Property tax is an annual tax paid by the property owner. It is calculated on the indexed cadastral income. The rate comprises a regional portion (1.25% in Wallonia and Brussels, 2.5% in Flanders before surcharges), provincial and municipal surcharges. The total amount varies considerably from one municipality to another, typically between 20% and 60% of the indexed CI. Reductions exist for large families, disabled persons, and low-CI properties.
